Cave at Balatonfüred
Lócy Cave is one of the most protected caves in Hungary, but it is also under archaeological protection. The Lóczy Cave, which rises on the northern edge of the town at the foot of the Tamás Hill, offers a beautiful view and is a natural landmark. Discovered in 1882 by quarry workers, it is nearly 150 m long and 20 m deep, and one of the most unique in its form, it is a memorial to Lajos Lóczy, the world-famous explorer of Lake Balaton. Open to the public since 1934, it is open to the public individually and guided tours are organised from the end of April to the end of September.
