In 1932, the Balatonkövesd - Csopak Parish was founded for the purpose of building a school and collections for a new church were started. Unfortunately, the war prevented the plans from coming to fruition. Deacon Babics gave the "Sarok Vineyard" next to the school as a church site, where work began in 1948. Planning began for a huge single-tower neo-Romanesque church with a Byzantine-style crypt inside. The crypt, which is now a sub-church and the plinth were completed, but the communist authorities stopped construction.
In 1980, on the initiative of Dr. Gyula Csontos, canon-priest, the construction was resumed on the basis of new plans, and finally Gábor Mihaleczky, an engineer, was commissioned to design the church. Father Csontos donated 500 000 HUF from his own fortune and other donations from home and abroad, and the church was completed in five years. On 12 May 1985, Bishop Dr. József Szendi of Veszprém arrived for the consecration. By the spring of 1987, the altarpiece in wood and enamel was completed by Vitus Lőrincz, a Bukovina - Szekler artist, and by 1993 the stational paintings were finished. After the change of regime, with the support of the local government, the heating of the chairs was completed.
The church is open to visitors all the time.
