A lookout tower in Balatonfüred
In Balatonfüred, on the Tamás Hill (317 m), you can find the three-storey wooden Jókai Lookout. From its top you can see Balatonfüred and the Tihany peninsula, which gives a unique view of the Balaton panorama. A marked tourist path leads up to the top of the mountain from the Lóczy cave or the Tamás hill cross. Whichever way you go, expect the climb to be steep, and the green triangle sign from the cave has small pebbles, which can be slippery. It is the blue lane of the Balaton Blue Trail, which is also the Golden Man trail. The 600 m long trail is named after the characters of Mór Jókai's The Golden Man and offers six cosy resting places where you can admire the unique panorama for a long time to come. On the way up the mountain, you can choose to rest at the bench of Noémie, Tíméa, Athalie or Mihály Tímár. You can also read the information panels about the protected rarities of the nature reserve and the flora and fauna of the area. By the time you've read the last stop, you'll reach the lookout and have nothing to do but admire the view.
