The Csákány Hill, which borders the village of Csopak from the north, and the park forest have always been a popular destination for hikers and holidaymakers, and with the increased tourist traffic due to its proximity to the shores of Lake Balaton, it has become even more so in recent times. The wooden lookout tower on the top of the hill, built in 1972, offers an unrivalled view of the Bakony and the eastern basin of Lake Balaton. The structure of the old lookout has been destroyed over the years and was demolished and replaced in 2015 by the Csákány Hill Lookout, which offers a magnificent panorama for hikers.
Built by János Ranolder (1806-1875), Bishop of Veszprém, in 1861 on the basis of the architectural plans of József Szentirmay. The romantic-neo-Gothic style building was once decorated with statues of Hungarian saints. The bishop died here in his lovely summer residence on 12 September 1875. His heirs sold the castle together with the vineyard to the knight Jenő Freistlander, who also owned the manor of Tótvázsony. He was also engaged in grape-growing. It was later owned by a Viennese wine merchant Grossinger, whose death was followed by the death of two (Jewish) merchants from Balatonfüred, Hirschfeld and Zollner. From them it was bought in 1916 by Salamon Hűvös, also a Jewish landowner from Botfa. At the end of the 1930s, as a result of the Jewish laws, it was taken away from him and was owned by General Károly Bartha (1884-1964) of Dálnokfalvi, Deputy Minister of Defence from 1936-38 and then Minister of Defence from 1938-42 until the nationalisations of 1950. It then became a Plant Protection Station in 1954.
The statues were demolished during the Russian occupation in 1945 and the following period, and it is still not known where the pieces have gone. It is listed in the National Monuments Register. Today it is located at 15 Kishegyi u.
