Flower-filled spring, light-rich summer, golden autumn, healthy winter. Vine-ripened slopes, orchards, gentle hills overlooking the shores. This is the wonderful northern side of Lake Balaton's Riviera. The Pannonian tranquility, historical atmosphere envelops this picturesque landscape. Its main attraction is the developed bathing culture. The gem of this stretch of coast is Alsóörs, an ancient settlement built on the slopes of Somlyó Hill, now with extensive bathing facilities. The ancient village's patinated peasant gateways, old houses offer a picturesque view. Along the border, numerous wine cellars, friendly cellars built on Roman foundations. From the towering lookout points in the region, the entire eastern basin of Lake Balaton can be admired. The most famous is the recently renovated lookout tower on Somlyó Hill.

Excellent, uplifting wines have been grown here since the Middle Ages. Since then, the distinctive Permian red sandstone has been mined and carved in the village border, and the fish-rich waters of Lake Balaton have been expertly fished.

The population respectfully preserves the memories of its past. The glory of the heroes of the 1848 Hungarian War of Independence in Alsóörs, the cult of our famous poet Sándor Endrődi (1850-1920). The XIIIth-century Gothic and Baroque-style church, with its visible tower, is highly regarded. The medieval Gothic courtyard house, known as the Turkish House.
