Exhibition of Painters from Alsóörs

Everyone is warmly welcome!

The Exhibition of Former Members of the Alsóörs Painting Group Opened in the Török House

On the evening of Saturday, August 10, 2024, Emőke Balla, editor-in-chief of Napló and Veol, officially opened the exhibition showcasing the works of former members of the Alsóörs Painting Group at the Török House in Alsóörs.
The opening featured a special performance by Veronika Hada.

A Longstanding Creative Community
The group has participated in numerous group exhibitions over the years.
In the early days, the artists mainly worked with pencil and charcoal, producing mostly realist works — still lifes, landscapes, and portraits. Thanks to regular and guided creative sessions, their works have been exhibited in several towns and cities, including Veszprém (Hangvilla), Pápa, Devecser, Ajka, Várpalota, Balatonalmádi, Balatonfüred, Balatonfűzfő, Csopak, Litér, Tapolca, and Lovas.

Some artists have also held solo exhibitions. Several of their works have been juried or received awards.

A Community Born from Creativity
Founded as an association in 2008, the Alsóörs Painting Group was created with the aim of bringing together local artists and organizing art camps and exhibitions.

“The artists are all different — their styles and techniques vary — but what unites them is their love of painting. They are everyday people, just like us here at the opening, but they see the world a little differently. They express their emotions and thoughts through their art. They are sensitive to the world and to beauty, and they strive to capture and convey that beauty,” said editor-in-chief Emőke Balla during her opening remarks.

Honoring Their Beloved Mentor
The group’s artistic leader was the late Lajos Horváth, a painter who played a guiding role in the group’s development. He closely followed the artists’ progress, offered advice and critiques, but never imposed his own style on them.
He was simply known as “Master” — a title that expressed the group’s deep respect for him. They looked up to him, valued his opinions, and continue to cherish his memory today.
